Tuesdays with Dorie: Tarte Noire

I was a TWD cheater this week. My Tarte Noire was assembled entirely from leftover components. I actually made two tiny tarts, one using a scrap of cheddar pie dough from an apple pie, one using a semolina crunchy tart dough from a zucchini tart. The crunchy tart dough proved a bit too fragile, the cheddar crust bite, made in a mini-muffin pan, was a success. The ganache, which was slightly different than Dorie's in that it contained no butter, was leftover frosting from an upcoming Heavenly Cakes selection, the Banana Stud Cake. The Franken-Tart-Noires were very delicious.

You'd never know! I'm a big proponent of using up what you have on hand! Resourceful thinking and a beautiful tart!
